The original contest featured general literature, but Kenny has fabricated a children&#8217;s literature version just for you alert ShelfTalker readers. And now, heeeere&#8217;s Kenny!<br \/>\n***<br \/>\nOne of the life lessons we&#8217;ve learned at DDG is that you can&#8217;t store unsold seasonal chocolate items for a whole year. Thus it has become necessary to reveal our&#8230;<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.publishersweekly.com\/blogs\/shelftalker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/2-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-9984\" title=\"Gelt Contest\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.publishersweekly.com\/blogs\/shelftalker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/2-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"230\" \/><\/a>Famous First Sentences with Gelt Contest<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nHere&#8217;s what&#8217;s at stake: numerous sacks of delicious chocolate coins, also called gelt, pictured at right by our bookseller and gelt model Noelle Dubay, and also a fabulous secret prize (not pictured at right).<br \/>\nHere&#8217;s how to win: below you will find 10 famous first sentences from classic children&#8217;s books with one word in each sentence replaced with the word &#8220;gelt.&#8221; The winner will be the first to write in a comment below all ten of the original words and the book each came from without cheating too much.<br \/>\nAnd what of the secret prize? It will be awarded to the best new gelt sentence submitted by a contestant.
