According to Nick they were just standing tall in the window when he arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"866\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.publishersweekly.com\/blogs\/shelftalker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gw2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34194\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We began to hear reports of strange activity spotted in the window overnight. Customers spoke of seeing industrious creatures in red hats moving so quickly as to be almost a blur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"866\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.publishersweekly.com\/blogs\/shelftalker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gw3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34195\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So I called our snowy owl up to the counter. But the owl, who sees all that goes on at the store at night, reported that nothing unusual had been observed. Hmmn. Well we are on high alert here and will keep investigating!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dateline: May 24, 2023: <\/strong><br>When we came in this morning the signs that an unnatural visitation was afoot had increased rather than ebbed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are some truths whose advent we resist but at this point I cannot help but acknowledge that DDG has suffered an incursion of gnomes. &nbsp;They have transformed &nbsp;our books in&nbsp;a most unsettling manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"850\" height=\"423\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.publishersweekly.com\/blogs\/shelftalker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gwbooks-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34200\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>They have infested our window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"850\" height=\"637\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.publishersweekly.com\/blogs\/shelftalker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gwwindow2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34204\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I called upon the store&#8217;s animal elders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"840\" height=\"1120\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.publishersweekly.com\/blogs\/shelftalker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gwkenny.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34197\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>They insisted that not only had no gnomes been sighted anywhere in the store but that Meg, and not gnomes, were responsible for these unseemly displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"850\" height=\"637\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.publishersweekly.com\/blogs\/shelftalker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gwmeg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34198\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I can&#8217;t believe that.
