You can view a close-up of one of these beauties at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.evilmadscientist.com\/article.php\/LibraryTattoo\" rel=\"noopener\">Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories<\/a>&nbsp;or click on the photo below to see smaller versions of all the tats to be found in this booklet.<\/p>\n<p> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/articles\/blog\/660000266\/20080710\/illuslib.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"232\" width=\"250\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.publishersweekly.com\/articles\/blog\/660000266\/20080710\/illuslib.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p> Most of the tattoos in this booklet, though,&nbsp;aren&#8217;t half as&nbsp;interesting or entertaining as the real-world&nbsp;booklover tattoos I&#8217;ve seen. Max from <em>Where the Wild Things Are<\/em> brandishes a fork on my friend Tim Scarlett&#8217;s ankle. My pal Janet Potter has a beatiful ampersand on her hip. As I mentioned once <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/blog\/660000266\/post\/930024493.html\" rel=\"noopener\">before<\/a>, lexicographer\/editor Steve Kleineder has the phonetic alphabet chart tattooed on his back. (Not that I&#8217;ve seen it, mind you.)<\/p>\n<p> A search for &quot;tattoos&quot; and &quot;book&quot;&nbsp;on Flickr yields a clever <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/abletoven\/462277747\/in\/set-72157594562475859\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Vonnegut salute<\/a>, and (holy cow!) a winner in the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/abletoven\/2461745299\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Connect-the-Dots<\/a> category. There&#8217;s also an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ta2ati2d\/2152008985\/\" rel=\"noopener\">open book<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/mcflutterby\/2568591055\/\" rel=\"noopener\">splayed pages<\/a>, books on a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ktrey\/144635405\/\" rel=\"noopener\">shelf<\/a>, a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/30112907@N00\/524178857\/\" rel=\"noopener\">fiery typewriter<\/a>, a reference to <em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/capturedstill\/1490856279\/\" rel=\"noopener\">To Kill a Mockingbird<\/a><\/em>, a tribute to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/hondawang\/863263906\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Snape<\/a>, <em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/courtoly\/42926452\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Harriet the Spy<\/a><\/em> (!), an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/letsread\/25959731\/in\/set-590558\/\" rel=\"noopener\">ant traveling by tesseract<\/a>, another <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/letsread\/25959729\/\" rel=\"noopener\">ampersand<\/a> fan, and (my favorite) an image adapted from the cover of Ann Fadiman&#8217;s <em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/nicemarmot\/263546756\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Ex Libris<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p> We book lovers are so attached to the objects of our passion&nbsp;that it make sense to me that some&nbsp;of us&nbsp;would want to&nbsp;wear those objects in a literal, permanent fashion.
