You can see the kids coming up to sample the wares, below. After my book talk and their galley grab I interviewed them to learn a bit more about what they are reading and why. Note how many kids like nonfiction titles or books with an historical element.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/belldandy.booksite.com\/blimages\/ckupload\/img61H3Xxmrscooksclass4.jpg\" width=\"620\" align=\"middle\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Kenny:<\/span> What book have you liked the most this year and why?<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ee82ee;\">Emma:<\/span> <em>My Sister the Vampire<\/em>. It&#8217;s a great series where the mom is a vampire and the dad isn&#8217;t and one of the sisters is a vampire and the other isn&#8217;t and you won&#8217;t know right away.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #8b4513;\">Sam:<\/span> The 7th Harry Potter book. I loved it because I loved the whole series.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">Reese:<\/span> <em>Dungeons and Dragons<\/em> books. I play Dungeons and Dragons a lot and the books really help me play better. I like that.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.publishersweekly.com\/blogs\/shelftalker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/dangerouswaters-2.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-13131\" alt=\"dangerouswaters\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.publishersweekly.com\/blogs\/shelftalker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/dangerouswaters-2.gif\" width=\"127\" height=\"187\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff8c00;\">Brian:<\/span> <em>Dangerous Waters<\/em>. Naturally, because it&#8217;s a mystery; plus it has history.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\">Breanna:<\/span>\u00a0 <em>Finally!<\/em> It&#8217;s about a girl who has to wait really long to have her wishes for when she is finally going to be twelve and do all kinds of stuff she has always wanted to do.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\">Evan:<\/span> <em>The Minecraft Essental Handbook<\/em>. It&#8217;s awesome<br \/>\nMany voices: Yeah!<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">Anna:<\/span><em> I Survived the Nazi Invasion.<\/em><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">John: <\/span><em>I Survived the Shark Attacks.<\/em><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/watson.booksite.com\/coverart\/5822\/9781423146728.gif\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #696969;\">Thomas:<\/span> The Percy Jackson series all the way up to <em>House of Hades<\/em>. I like mythical fantasies.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #4b0082;\">Emily:<\/span> The Nancy Drew books. I just read one where a statue that looked like Nancy went missing and then she was challenged to find it. That was great.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Kenny:<\/span> What books are you looking forward to coming out?<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #808080;\">Thomas:<\/span> <em>Blood of Olympus<\/em>!<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Kenny:<\/span> Aha.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #808080;\">Thomas: <\/span>Definitely.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ee82ee;\">Emma:<\/span> <em>My Sister Is the Darkness<\/em>. It was way too easy. I figured out the mystery too soon.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ee82ee;\">Emma:<\/span><em> Bone<\/em> &#8211; the last one in the series. I just didn&#8217;t like it.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Kenny:<\/span> What book has a friend recommended to you that you liked?<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffd700;\">Anna:<\/span> <em>Raymond and Graham Rule the School<\/em>. I enjoyed that one.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Caleb:<\/span> The Hardy Boys. My grandmother gave me two of them. I own them myself. They&#8217;re mine.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Kenny:<\/span> That&#8217;s awesome. When I was a kid I read <em>The Secret of the Old Mill<\/em> when I had a 105-degree fever. It was totally intense! I was terrified reading it.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">Reese:<\/span> I liked <em>Survivor<\/em>. it was about people on an island and it was really exciting!<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/booksite-images.s3.amazonaws.com\/img\/ing_img\/1001\/9781606840719.gif\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #8b4513;\">Sam:<\/span> I liked <em>Middleworld<\/em>, the first Jaguar Stones book.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Kenny: <\/span>That is a good series.
