Happy New Year!

Barbara Vey -- January 1st, 2014

new year

I can hardly believe it’s 2014 already.  Every year seems to fly by more quickly than the last.  When I was a kid, 2014 was like science fiction.  We were lead to believe there would be flying cars, robots to do everything for us and we’d be living on other planets.  Lots of those thoughts came from books.

Yes, I like nerdy things.  Was glued to my tv every Friday night to watch Star Trek (the original), Lost in Space and Battlestar Galactica (the original).  I read a lot of science fiction too and loved H.G. Wells, Ray Bradbury and was terrified by 1984 and Brave New World.

But the new year is for looking ahead.  I’m not big on resolutions and as Sharon Sala says, “Resolutions are nothing but a guilt trip just waiting to happen.”  So, I’m not making any and will just try to take one day at a time.  Starting with today.

My choices today are Heart of Stone by Christine Warren, If Wishes Were Earls by Elizabeth Boyle and River Road by Jayne Ann Krentz.  Three very different books.  Which one should I start with?  (Of course, I will be taking a break to watch the Wisconsin Badgers Game.)
