I know everyone is sick of all the ads and campaigning, but now the ball is in your court. Take all the information you have and make your mark in this election. It’s not really about who you are voting for. Everyone has a right to their opinion and now’s the time to make it known…at the polls.
When I turned 18, my biggest thrill was voting in my first election. I walked into that voting booth, the curtain closed and I turned the lever to adulthood. I knew the struggles that so many people went through before me to be allowed to vote and I didn’t want to make their sacrifices to be in vain.
I am so proud to be an American and this is something I can do for my country. It doesn’t take long and it gives me an opportunity to get out and see my neighbors at the polls (I vote at the local elementary school).
We’re all book lovers here. I know you’ve read books about people and places that don’t have the luxury of voting. Here’s your chance to put up or shut up.

My first presidential election was 1972 when I proudly supported McGovern. When he passed last week, it brought it all back to me, waiting in the cold rain in lexington KY to cast my first ever vote. My grandmother was a suffragette and told me never to miss an election and I haven’t. thanks Grandma
Here in Ohio, we’ve been besieged by political ads for months, and I, for one, have been sick of it for weeks. If only the laws were different, perhaps limiting campaign ads to two weeks before the election, then we would feel a lot more positive about making our choice.
Billions and billions of dollars are spent that could be put to much better use, say for helping bail out the victims of Sandy, or lowering the debt we’re leaving our children. There are hundreds of places where that money could be spent with much greater impact.
Enough of my rant.
I voted. I’m done.
Now, it’s up to those who want to lead us to do what they’re paid for.
Sorry to sound like Debbie Downer, but I truly am disheartened with the state of our electoral process.
Think I’ll go read a romance. At least there I’m guaranteed some kind of reasonable conclusion.

I couldn’t agree more and heartily endorse every word of Kim Lucas’s ‘rant’ which (not so BTW) I see rather as a strong, well-worded example of telling-it-like-it-IS!…both reasoned and entirely reasonable! Like Ohio, Nevada is a battleground state, so we’ve been under siege here too. I would add that I find it disgusting on both sides that “doing what they’re paid for” has been largely abrogated in favor of careening around the country campaigning instead of minding the store. I’m on my way to my polling place after I write this. I am SO SICK of being put in a position of essentially being practically forced to vote AGAINST someone or something rather than FOR a person or plan that I find attractive and/or desirable for MY America.
We vote by mail and I love that. There’s plenty of time to spread papers out on the dining room table, read the voter’s pamphlets and make these decisions in my own space, at my own pace.
