Yesterday was Talk Like a Pirate Day. I tried it, but without an eye patch, peg leg and parrot on my shoulder, people were kind of looking at me funny. I’ll try to be more prepared for next year.
I’ve always loved books about pirates and am still nagging Jennifer Ashley about writing more since becoming enamored with her The Care and Feeding of Pirates and The Pirate Next Door. There’s something so dashing about a romance pirate. Their tight pants and loose, open to the navel billowy shirts. A tough exterior, but heart of gold when it comes to finding their soul mates (insert sigh here).
One thing I did go was ask people on Twitter and Facebook to suggest some good pirate books for me to read. Here’s what they like:
Leigh Evans – Windflower by Sharron & Tom Curtis. Best. Pirate. Historical. Romance. EVER.
Bekka Black - Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson!
Dana Cameron – I like Under the Black Flag by David Cordingly. (Nonfiction)’
Michael McGovern – If you feel like a movie, try going with an old-school Errol Flynn pirate movie like Captain Blood or The Sea Hawk! Might be a good way to cap off a day of pirate reading, and Flynn is one dashing chap to spend an evening with.
Caitlyn Willows – Anything from Darlene Marshall

Missy Jane - Say You’re Mine by Judi McCoy
Lisa Dunick - Lady Pirate by Katherine Ashe
Patti O’Shea – The Skypirate by Justine Davis. Futuristic pirate and awesome story.
Nina Bruhns - Ghost of a Chance by Nina Bruhns
Julie Ann Long - I Kissed an Earl by Julie Ann Long
Sheila Griffin Llanas – The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi
Josephine Ault Templeton – A Pirate’s Kiss by Josephine Templeton
Sabrina Shields - Check out The Kraken’s Caribbean Series from Maureen O. Betita!
Got a pirate book you like? Post it below.
Bottom Line: Thanks for all the suggestions. They’ll be going on my list of books to check out because every now and then I need a pirate fix.
