I can’t imagine anyone going through today without remembering the tragic events of September 11, 2001. That day is imprinted on my mind the same as the day JFK was shot and Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. Most of us remember exactly what we were doing. I was visiting my mom when the awful images started appearing on television. We couldn’t look away. The shock and horror was unimaginable.

9/11 affected us all in some way and my thoughts and prayers today are not only with those who experienced it first hand, but also with our entire country. Let today be filled with love and compassion for everyone. Put hate and bad feelings aside for a time and enjoy our freedoms by showing someone some small kindness.

I say thanks every day for the men and women who keep us safe. It’s still hard to look at the pictures from that day even now. My heart goes out to everyone whose life was ripped apart by this tragedy and to all those heroes who rushed forward into the danger to help others. We are blessed to live in a country filled with amazing people.
