SEAL of my Dreams

Barbara Vey -- October 13th, 2011

Recently I wrote about authors writing for charities and Gennita Low contacted me about a their offering.  “18 authors are doing an anthology, SEAL of my Dreams, with all the proceeds going to Veterans Research Corporation. We have a site: www.sealofmydreams.com that has all the authors involved, including me, Cindy Gerard, Kylie Brant, Alison Kent, Tara Janzen, Marliss Melton, Roxanne St. Claire, and more and our ebook is coming out 11/11/11 (which is Veteran’s Day).”

I checked out the website and their story goes like this:
Thursday, 05/05/2011, on Twitter, Christie Ridgway linked to an inspiring Navy SEAL photo from a NYT article, saying: Has everyone seen this SEAL photo? Makes me feel very, uh, patriotic.

On Friday, 05/06/2011, she said: We could all get together & write antho inspired by ystdy’s SEAL. Donate proceeds to military charity, something like that.

And so in six months and with the help of many, including publisher Bell Bridge Books and cover designer Frauke Spanuth of Croco Designs, Christie Ridgway and her sidekick Alison Kent pulled off the wrangling of nineteen authors to make it happen.

Bottom Line:  Another amazing story of a small idea growing into something great.

I, for one, can tell you that this anthology is chock-a-block full of exciting and heartfelt stories all featuring Navy SEALs. Don’t miss out! My story turned out to be the prologue for a new SEAL Team 12 book! (Yep, the guys are back!).

  2. Alison Kent

It has been amazing to see this project come together. And SO much generosity – from the authors, to the cover artist, to the copy editor, to the publisher. Even romance reading websites are pitching in to volunteer advertising. I can’t wait to see it hit the shelves.

Both print and digi versions will be released 11/11/11, and Bell Bridge Books has done an amazing package for us. They pretty much took a great effort and turned it into magic.

  3. Cindy Gerard

I am so thrilled to be a part of this collection. And I’ve had the chance to read some of the stories in their entirety and snippets of the others (can’t wait to finish them all). I can’t believe how wonderful they are. Wait. What am I saying? Of COURSE I can believe it. Look at the line up of amazing authors who always deliver fantastic stories and characters. Hope you all can dig into your pockets and buy this collection. ALL profits go to the Veteran’s Medical Research Foundation that helps not only our SEAL heroes but all of our military heroes. Check it out here: http://www.sealofmydreams.com

(Oh – and for those who have been asking and want more of Luke and Val, my story – SEALed With a Kiss, is an addendum to their novel, With No Remorse)

  4. Roxanne St. Claire

Thank you, Barbara! Like my co-authors, being part of this anthology has been an honor and a joy. The power of a picture, huh? And what a picture! I think we all know who inspired our stories…a real life hero.

  5. Christie Ridgway

Thank you, Barbara, for the mention! I’m so thrilled about this project and can’t wait to share our stories with readers. The medical research the proceeds will help fund address the health issues our military face during and after their service to our country.

Veterans Day will be extra-special for me this year!

  6. Kylie Brant

Thanks for the promo, Barbara. I’m so pumped about this venture and the proceeds going for veterans research. My 87-year-old father is a World War II vet and is almost as excited about the project as I am!

I also peeked at several of the other stories in the anthology while doing edits. Lots of fabulous stories there!

  7. Loreth Anne White

It really is an honor to be a part of this project, and ditto what others have already said: I’ve read some of the other stories during edits, and there really is some great work in that anthology. Thanks to all. And thanks for the mention Barbara!

  8. Margie Hager

What a heartwarming, oh so generous project! In the last couple of years most of my donations have gone to wounded soldier organizations because there is so much need. Thank you all for your efforts. You are truly wonderful women.

  9. Helen Brenna

Hey Barbara, thanks so much for bringing this to everyone’s attention! I’m honored to be a part of this project and hope we raise a bundle for medical research for veterans!

A great book. A great cause. What more can you ask for?

  10. Tara Janzen

Thanks, Barbara, for helping spread the word about SEAL OF MY DREAMS http://www.sealofmydreams.com Everyone involved in this project has amazed me, and the end product is fabulous. Even better, is where the money is going – to help our soldiers. The stories are all about SEALs, but we LOVE all the boys and girls in the sand box and around the world who are serving, and have served, our country.
