Fridays have to be one of the best days of the week. Oh yeah, the start of the weekend. Here on the blog it’s time to tell us your pick of the week.
One of my reads for the week has been Candy Apple Red by Nancy Bush. This is the first book in the Jane Kelly mystery series. She’s a 30 year old who starts a new career as a private investigator. Fun, sexy read. I’ve got to admit that the cover of this one got me.
On my iPod, I’m listening to Absolute Fear by Lisa Jackson. This romantic thriller involves a serial killer and causes heart palpitations. (BTW, Nancy Bush and Lisa Jackson are sisters…book nerd’s trivia)
In my car it’s Shopaholic and Sister by Sophie Kinsella. This continuing saga of super shopper Becky Bloomwood has her discovering a half sister who (horrors!!) hates to shop. Plan on smiling while listening.
Ok, your turn…give me some good reads.
Bottom line: Books…they bring good things to life.

I am currently reading Missing by Sharon Sala. I’ve recently discovered this author and like her characters and the suspense in her books.
The next time somebody complains that people in the New York publishing scene are snobbish, provincial, and unapproachable, have them read the “1st Assistant” by Clare Naylor and Mimi Hare for a taste of what Hollywood’s like… Not that every agent’s assistant out here would burn a pile of incoming queries, manuscripts, and contracts so she’ll have more time to play Sudoku, but it’s close enough that a lot of entry-level writers avoid agencies on the West Coast-and it’s a funny book; try it…
I just finished Simple Genius by David Baldacci. It was complicated but good. There were 2 plots going on at the same time. I enjoyed it.
I’m reading Killing Her Softly by Beverly Barton. It’s about a Southern heiress who becomes involved with a trial lawyer whose ex-lovers are being murdered. It’s the kind of romantic thriller I enjoy reading. I’m a big fan of Barton’s.
I am reading There Goes The Bride by Lori Wilde. So far its great! ~ Rika – Bookadesign.com
I am reading Linda Howard’s All the Queen’s Men. It’s about a covert military guy who has to work with a woman he knew years ago. The problem is that he feels responsible for her husband’s death. Great read!!
I enjoyed reading The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffeneger. It is a great book but I needed a box of tissue.
I’m reading a fascinating historical fiction called Portrait of an Unknown Woman about one of the wards in Sir Thomas More’s household. Lesa Holstine – http://www.lesasbookcritiques.blogspot.com
I’m about one-third through Lisa See’s new one, “Peony in Love.” It’s a bit woo-woo for me, but I so love her writing, I’m sticking with it! – Clea http://www.cleasimon.com
I am reading Shadow Game by Christine Feehan. This is the first in her Ghostwalker series and I’m hooked. As as soon as I finish it, I’ll be off to get the rest of the series.
Great Blog.
