Well, to the Duchess of Alba, Maria del Rosario Cayetana Alfonsa Victoria Francisca Fitz-James Stuart y de Silva (wouldn’t you hate to teach her to spell all that as a child?), the love of her life is worth up to $5 billion. (Read more at guardian.co.uk.)
The duchess has been friends with Alfonso Diez, who works for the social security department and a public relations firm, for many years and there was even talk of marriage in 2008. But the kicker here is that the duchess is 85 years old while Alfonso is 24 years younger. Good for her, you say? Not so fast, says her family. Her children are against the marriage, so to prove to them that their love is true, the Duchess of Alba plans to give all of her children their inheritance now (her worth is estimated at between $850 million and $5 billion.
The duchess has early said, ”Alfonso doesn’t want anything. All he wants is me.”
To pave the way, she’s given her children and grandchildren each a palace. Yikes! A palace? I can’t even imagine and yet I suppose for some nothing is enough.
How much is true love worth to you? Is this marriage so outrageous that others should dictate their lives? Is the duchess doing too much? Too little?
