The island was a blast yesterday and today we are at the mall with the young adult, inspirational and nonfiction authors. How cool is htis? Everything we could possibly need is here. It’s open only for our party, so feel free to explore everywhere. There’s also several bookstores so you can shop for your favorite authors along with all the new ones you have discovered this week. The possibilities are endless.
Our two honorary guests today have offered a Nook and a Kindle. How cool is that? Virna DePaul says, “I’ll bring my aunt’s special layered chiffon cake with caramel flan!” Ah, Virna, if you remember how many have been coming daily, you’d better bring more than one. This group can eat. Renee Ryan told me, “Cinnabons.
” You’re right Renee, the first thing you smell when you enter the mall is the Cinnabons. Thanks to you both for your eReader donations, I know a lot of people who would really enjoy them.
Saundra Mitchell reminds us, “We may be meeting in a mall, but this is supposed to be a party. That’s why I’ll be down in the food court pushing the tables against the walls so we have somewhere to dance. The band is on their way, and we have the most eclectic refreshment table imaginable, catered by fine dining establishments such as Auntie Anne’s and Sbarro. Dance cards are optional (though recommended!)” Janet Tronstad said, “Godiva chocolates (there’s always a candy store in a mall.”Trinity Faegen says, “I’m bringing money for the Food Court . Pizza’s on me!” Margaret Daley is offering Balloons and Ice Cream Sundaes.
Even more food on the way with Lyn Cote bringing individual cheesecakes and Hope White coming in with chocolate cupcakes. Lenora Worth is thinking a little outside the box with crawfish and bread pudding (I live in Louisiana). Chocolate and raspberry layer cake is on the way from Marley Gibson and Barbara Monajem has Mrs. Beaton’s Plum Cake. LaShaunda Hoffmann i bringing in a tray of Gooey Butter Cookies. Renee Andrews suggests, “GNC Peaches and Scream Smoothies for everyone while we shop!” And C.C. Hunter thinks, “Some homemade Chocolate Chip cookies–warm from the oven.”
Emma Miller is, “Bringing a basket of fresh eggs, Mam’s hot biscuits, and a crock of wild clover
honey from our bees.” Now that sounds wonderful, but I don’t think Emma gets to the mall very often.
As for entertainment, Amanda Brice said, “Dani Spevak and her partner, Hollywood superstar Nick Galliano, will be teaching a cha-cha lesson in the corner in about 15 minutes if anyone wants to join in.”
Now I personally just heard that Justin Bieber will be here for the YA group. He’s cute, but I’m not sure I can do 24 hours of him. On top of that the Twilight Group just arrived and they are already splitting off into team Jacob and team Edward. We need Bella to get her butt over here and break this up. Waiting for Joysann to bring in the adult entertainment. Where is she? Well, Linda Goodnight promises, “Bringing along a strong hero (good-looking, of course) to carry all those bags and packages–just in case we need some muscle and a bodyguard.”
Dorothy Clark considerately is supplying, “A pair of insoles for a shopper’s weary feet.” And Valerie Hansen says, “I’ll bring myself to the party, ready to shop! I love malls.” Janette Rallison says, “I’ll bring little mirrors as party favors, because hey, you’ve got to look your best at the mall.” Terri Reed said, “I’ll bring 10 mylar balloons and a rainbow of streamers.”
Mary Buckham has just commandeered a magnifying glass Sedgeway liberated from a mall cop. Get the bail money ready. Leanna Renee Hieber is offering a haunted painting of a strikingly beautiful British lord to hang in the shopping plaza. If you stare hard enough, you might see him move.
.
Good-hearted Debbie Kaufman is offering BOGOF coupon on shoes and I’m sure those will go fast.
Allie Pleiter says, “Since we’re in a mall, I’ll bring the gift cards to the coffee bar. If there’s a yarn store in the mall, too, (or knowing me even if there isn’t…) I’ll offer to teach everyone how to knit!” (Not me…even Debbie Macomber couldn’t teach me and she really tried.)
Alix Rickloff brought a case of Writers Tears Irish whiskey. “I only brought a bottle last year and it was swiped by some fat guy masquerading as the Prince Regent.” Charlotte Carter thinks we’ll all need, “an on-the-spot foot massage at the mall.” I’m first.
Carla Capshaw will be everyone’s friend as she hands out, “Gift cards to the book store.” And isn’t that what we’d all love?
Bottom Line: I already feel years younger hanging with all these YA readers…and their moms too.
