Not the party I was at, but a great New Year picture
Happy New Year everyone!
Last night my sisters, their husbands and my brother were over for dinner and we spent the rest of the night playing games. Catch Phrase was a big hit. There are two teams and one person gets a word, has to describe it and then pass the word machine on to the next person. When the time buzzer goes off, you don’t want to be holding the machine.
It’s amazing what we we ended up saying to try to get our team to say the word. Favorite moments were a sister imitating a seal (after she started by saying he was a model’s husband with a scar on his face), my brother’s racy attempt at Pandora’s Box and someone giving the clue “a Tom Cruise movie.” Like there’s only one of those. (It turned out to be “firm.”)
We also played Dance 2 on the Wii, which was a sight to behold. Thank goodness there were no video camera or I’m sure it would have been on YouTube by now. It was obvious that my family did not inherit the rhythm gene, but I got my best score trying to “Walk Like an Egyptian.” Just not sure what that could mean. I’m going to keep practicing with it so I’m ready for those upcoming conference parties.
But the best part is that 2010 ended on such a high note with all the lows my family endured in kind of a rough year. I even called Andrew at midnight and it sounded like he was having fun at a very loud party. And don’t we all want the best of times for our kids. It is only a sign of wonderful things to come in 2011. What wonderful things are you hoping for in the coming year?
Bottom Line: While I don’t bother making resolutions anymore, I do hope for things and this year I hope to be able to keep up with my emails (kind of boring, but maybe doable).

I gave up on resolutions a few years ago and started to pick a word of the year. One word that I can pull out and reflect on…a word to center my year, if you will. This year’s word is MOMENT. I hope to spend more time living in the moment…appreciating each for what it is. I think it’s doable, and might make for a more rewarding year!

I don’t make resolutions either, but I plan on meeting all of my writing goals and on spending some real quality time with my husband. He’s been such a trooper over the last few years, when his wife disappears in her writing cave for hours on end.

Oh Catch Phrase is a favorite of ours as well! It’s amazing how much fun people have playing it. We took it to our family gathering at Thanksgiving and now our 5 yr old niece is the champ at clues! Sounds like you had a wonderful NYE. Happy New Year Barbara!
