Toilet Paper Wedding Dresses

Grand Prize Winner

This is one of my favorite stories.  Every year millions of women spend an ungodly amount of money on a dress they will wear only once…their wedding dress.  I, personally, was a cheapo.  I borrowed a wedding dress (thank goodness because my marriage lasted only 15 years and I like to get my money’s worth).  Helping us to put it all into perspective,  every year Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com holds an annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest.

We’ve all played the wedding shower game with toilet paper, but these women take this challenge seriously.  It never fails to amaze me what these creative women come up with.  The website is run by Laura Gawne and partners Susan Bain and Roxie Radford.  Every year they have their readers to create the unique wedding gowns.  The rules allow for toilet paper, tape and/or glue, but this year they were allowed to also sew their garments.

According to Laura Gawn, “Judging this year’s entries was tough.” Roxie Radford added, “We had so many fantastic dresses to choose from!” Jack Jones of Boca Raton Bridal was the celebrity judge for this year’s contest.

Entries come from all over the world and the grand prize went to Galit Zierman who made a short dress with a bird on the shoulder and headpiece.

Second place went to Ericka Andrade of Winnetka, California and the third place winner was Bailie Bickford of Carlsbad, California.

You can see more photos from the contest here.

So, how about you?  Did you take out a loan to buy your wedding dress?  Borrow one like I did?  Get married on a beach with a swim suit?  Send me your photos and I’ll post them.  barbaravey@gmail.com

As a special bonus, here’s me, circa 1977 in my wedding dress.  Note the Mantilla veil which I considered my crowning glory.

Bottom Line: For my next wedding I plan on borrowing someone’s left over dress from the Rita Awards.

Thanks for your posting. I have always observed that most people are desirous to lose weight as they wish to show up slim plus attractive. Nonetheless, they do not constantly realize that there are many benefits for you to losing weight also. Doctors declare that overweight people come across a variety of diseases that can be directly attributed to their own excess weight. The great news is that people that are overweight and also suffering from various diseases can help to eliminate the severity of their illnesses by means of losing weight. You are able to see a gradual but noted improvement in health while even a moderate amount of weight loss is realized.

These days of austerity in addition to relative stress and anxiety about taking on debt, a lot of people balk contrary to the idea of using a credit card to make acquisition of merchandise or maybe pay for a holiday, preferring, instead only to rely on the particular tried and also trusted approach to making settlement – raw cash. However, in case you have the cash on hand to make the purchase entirely, then, paradoxically, this is the best time just to be able to use the cards for several motives.
