The Most Beautiful Book of the Year is ‘Pale Fire’

I should go right ahead and admit that Vladimir Nabokov is my favorite writer. I love his writing so much that when Vintage/Anchor announced in late 2009 that all of his books (except Lolita) would be getting these gorgeous new covers, I replaced all my older editions with the new ones. Every time I found a book with a new Nabokov cover in the bookstore, it was a treat (though, to my knowledge, a few titles still haven’t been published: Bend Sinister, The Enchanter and Look at the Harlequins!make it happen, Vintage!).

But if those editions are gorgeous, Gingko Press‘s edition of “Pale Fire” is hands-down the most beautiful book of the year. Here’s why.
