Audio Industry Unites to Fight ALS

Adam Boretz -- October 24th, 2013

audioThe audio industry is coming together to host a live, 25-hour audiobook marathon to benefit two ALS charities.

The event was inspired by audiobook producer Bob Deyan’s current fight with ALS. Deyan and his wife, Debra, own and manage Deyan Audio, a studio that has produced multiple Grammy and Audie Award-winning audiobooks.

The marathon will take place at the Victory Theater in Burbank, CA, on Saturday Nov. 9, and feature narrators and celebrity guests reading classics and contemporary best sellers from every genre.

In addition to the live performances, the event will feature raffles and an online auction featuring prizes like a tour of Random House Studios; personalized voice-mail messages recorded by the likes of Scott Brick, Dion Graham, Edoardo Ballerini, and Simon Vance; a studio visit with George Guidall; a ticket to the 2014 Audie Awards Ceremony in New York City; plenty of great audiobooks, and a whole lot more. Among the celebrities and narrators taking part in the marathon are David Javerbaum of The Daily Show, Scott Brick, Simon Vance, John Lee, Julia Whelan, Kirby Heyborne, Stefan Rudnicki, Tara Sands, Arthur Morey, Dan Woren, and Cassandra Campbell.

Proceeds from the auction will go to the ALS Association. Ticket sales and all other proceeds from the live event will go toward Deyan’s medical expenses. All donations raised toward Deyan’s care will be facilitated by the not-for-profit Help Hope Live.
