Wednesday night at St. Ann’s Church in Brooklyn, YA author Tonya Hurley celebrated the release of her new series, The Blessed. With her was the narrator of Simon & Schuster’s audio edition, Kara Hayward, whom listeners will remember playing “Suzy” opposite Billy Murray and Frances McDormand in Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom.
Hayward read two passages from the book for guests, the second of which was paired with original music composed by Vince Clarke of Depeche Mode and Erasure fame. Other performances of the night included Gus and Scout duo Gus Wenner and Scout Willis as well as the Magnetic Fields frontman Stephin Merritt.
After the jump, check out another picture of Hayward at the event, and give a listen to the following audio excerpt from The Blessed.
